Continued Discussion Regarding Appointments to Airport Research Groups, Advisory Committees and Forums Kathy Omelas reviewed drafted guidelines that would be used for future appointments for airport research groups, advisory committees and the Noise Forum. Committee members recommended the guidelines be forwarded to the City Council for consideration. if approved, it is recommended the guidelines be incorporated into the City Council handbook. Committee members also gave staff approval to begin the announcement process for the next citizen appointment to the Oakland Airport/Community Noise Management Forum. That appointment expires this month. Based on a recommendation by the City Attorney, the interviews of interested applicants will be done by a subcommittee consisting of one Committee member, the Assistant City Manager, and the Community Relations Representative. Discussion Regarding Future Meetings with Port Board Aviation Subcommittee John Jermanis reported on correspondence received from the Port of Oakland in response to the Committee's suggestion that a future meeting be held in the evening hours in San Leandro. The Port Board's Aviation Subcommittee declined the suggestion, making it clear that they intend to follow the provisions of the settlement agreement for these meetings. Port staff has recommended dates of September 26 and December 5 for the next joint meetings. The Committee will have meetings prior to those dates to discuss any agenda items San Leandro may want to bring forward for discussion. Chair Santos commented that it would be helpful to hear of any follow - through that cones of items discussed at the joint meetings. Committee Recommendations None 3
