•
contact had been made with several Bay Area cities regarding their programs: Those who had
used CKSA were very satisfied with the firm's work.
3. Discussion Regarding Establishing Regular Meeting Dates
A discussion was had regarding the possibility of establishing regular meeting dates.
Committee Members agreed to make themselves available in August if needed to review the
consultant agreement for the ANIP. After that, further discussion of regular meeting dates
would be entertained.
•
4. North Field Study Group Report
Staff reported on the latest quarterly meeting of the North Field group. The group continues to
review flight patterns and noise incidents with Port officials to determine why unusual noise
events are taking place, and/or why pilots are not following requested flight pattems.
5. South Field Study Group Report
• Staff reported on the South Field group meeting which took place that morning. The group had
been studying a rolling take -off procedure that FedEx planes were demonstrating to see if
improvements could be made in noise impacts to San Leandro neighborhoods. Preliminary
data of several flights showed noise levels that were not encouraging (see attached data).
Members of the group and the Airport Noise Management Office staff will continue to analyze
the data to fine tune it before any final conclusions are reached. The group also began to
discuss other options that might be explored to improve conditions in San Leandro and
Alameda.
6. Public Comments
Harold Perez said he would like to see the airport prevented from starting any of the Airport
Development Plan until the ANIP is done. He feels more of the community should be involved
in the process to select the ANIP consultant.
Wafaa Aborashed commented during the North Field Group report regarding concerns she and
NAACSL representatives have about a number of excessively loud flights at the north field.
She highlighted a list of several flights in February and April which were well over 70 dB and
80 db and feels that more should be done by the Airport to prevent these incidents. At the
Committee's request, a copy of the list is being sent to the Airport Noise Management Office,
asking that an explanation be given at the next Committee meeting.
Ms. Aborashed also asked that the North Field Group begin discussing arrivals at the North
Field. This had been requested at the April Noise Forum meeting but no action has been taken
yet.
Regarding the ANIP, Ms. Aborashed wants to know who the "stakeholders" are. She asked
that the new appointee to the Noise Forum be accountable to the neighborhoods. She also
reported that a high pitched noise coning from the Airport on a high security alert day has
never been identified. She asked that a citizen member, possibly the City's citizen
representative to the Noise Forum, be added to the Council's Committee. Council Member
