M <br />City Manager is appointed by the City Council and serves as the <br />iinistrative head of the City and key staff advisor to the Council. <br />City Manager is responsible for implementing policies as directed <br />the City Council and enforcing all municipal laws and regulations <br />the benefit of the community. The City Manager's duties include <br />°ction and supervision of departments, preparation and <br />iinistration of the annual City budget, and planning and <br />)lementation of key projects. <br />City Manager's Office includes Administration, City Clerk, Human <br />ources, Information Services, Emergency Services, and Community <br />ations and Public Information. The City Manager's Office also <br />vides staff support to the majority of the City Council's committees. <br />Ace <br />The City Manager will be a strong, innovative leader with the proven ability to bring creative management and operational solutions to <br />ensure the financial stability of the City and effectiveness and efficiency of services provided to the community. The City Manager will <br />have top - flight leadership, management and administrative skills necessary to support the City Council and implement their policies. <br />The City Manager will be expected to develop an effective and productive working relationship with the Mayor and members of the <br />City Council, the City's management team, City employees and the community. <br />The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success in municipal <br />management. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of ten years of leadership and <br />municipal management experience including experience at the City Manager or Assistant <br />level in a comparably sized community. Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree from <br />an accredited college or university, a Master's Degree is preferred. <br />In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics and competencies: <br />Excellent communication shills, both verbal and written <br />Public finance shills and savvy <br />A long- range, strategic perspective and tactical implementation shills <br />Community focus and commitment to be an active participant in the San Leandro <br />community, with willingness to reside in San Leandro a positive factor <br />Embrace diversity <br />Principled leadership and management style <br />Business oriented <br />Broad knowledge of municipal government administration <br />Excellent negotiation shills and abilities <br />Track record of success in economic development <br />Commitment to employee development <br />
