CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />CITY COUNCIL RULES AND COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE <br />July 25, 2011 <br />4:30 - 5:30 p.m. <br />San Leandro City Hall <br />835 East 14th Street <br />San Leandro, California <br />(Sister Cities Gallery) <br />HIGHLIGHTS <br />Committee Members <br />present: Mayor Stephen Cassidy (arrived at 4:40 p.m.), Councilmembers Jim <br />Prola and Ursula Reed <br />City Staff present: Jennifer Auletta, Administrative Analyst/Public Works Services; Jacqui <br />Diaz, Interim Assistant City Manager; Rayan Fowler, Information <br />Services Manager; Michael Hamer, Information Services Systems <br />Analyst; Marian Handa, City Clerk; Tom Liao, CDBG and Planning <br />Manager; Lianne Marshall, Interim City Manager; Richard Pio Roda, <br />Assistant City Attorney; Jayne Williams, City Attorney <br />Public present: Lou Filipovich <br />Chair Cassidy had infonned the Committee members that he would be late. The meeting was <br />called to order at 4:33 p.m. by Committee Member Reed. Item 2, Continued Discussion Regarding <br />Proposed Polystyrene Food Service Ware Ban Ordinance, was taken out of order. <br />2. Continued Discussion Regarding Proposed Polystyrene Food Service Ware Ban <br />Ordinance <br />Interim City Manager Lianne Marshall provided the Committee with copies of correspondence <br />received from the California Restaurant Association and Cheryl Miraglia of Miraglia Catering. <br />Committee Member Prola reported that he received an email from Save the Bay. <br />Administrative Analyst Jennifer Auletta reported that since the last Committee meeting, she <br />met with the Chamber and representatives of local businesses, including Cheryl Miraglia. The <br />California Restaurant Association requested a continuance of the item, but indicated in its letter <br />that it opposes the ordinance. Ms. Auletta pointed out that it makes sense to continue the item <br />if the Committee wants a voluntary program, rather than an ordinance. <br />
