CHAPTER 2. DEVELOPMENT OF CAPACITY CHARGES
Current and Recommended Capacity Charges, Single Family and Multiple Family
The City currently charges all single family and multiple family units a capacity charge based on
standard flow, BOD and SS loads for each customer class. These standard loads, multiplied by the
capacity charge unit costs shown in Table 2 -3, yield a capacity charge applicable to any new
connection for each of those two customer classes. As in the wastewater rate study, the flow, BOD
and SS loads for these two customer classes are revised to account for changes in the wastewater
discharges from these customers
Capacity charges for single family and multiple family units using current and recommended
capacity charge unit costs and loads are shown in Table 2-4.
a. Recommended capacity charge unit
costs are from Table 2 -3.
b. Flow, BOD and SS values are the same as those used for these customer classes in the development
of rates.
c. Actual single family and multiple family charges adopted by the City
are slightly different from those
calculated using
unit costs applied to the flow (in gpd) and strengths (in mg /I) shown. The charges for 2009 were not updated with the unit costs.
