Wafaa Aborashed, San Leandroresident , commented on the need for residents to have the ability to raise their own food. Dan Dillman, San Leandroresident , commented that families deserve to keep chickens and bees, and suggestedlicensing them and charging a fee. Mr. Dillman asked the Council to remove from consideration the zoning code changes that are proposed to move forward for consideration, expressing concern that they would affect his business. Mitch Huitema, San Leandroresident , commented on the enforcement of the chicken and bee ordinance, and asked the Council to consider allowing a reasonable number of chickens and bees. Minute Order No. 2011-087 , motion referring the development of an ordinance allowing the keeping of chickens and bees, to the City Council Business and Housing Development Committee. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 MOTION: Motion Directing Staff to Move Forward with the Proposed Zoning Code Amendments The City Council approved this recommendation. 8.B.4.Facilities and Transportation Committee Meeting of September 13, 2011.Accepted as submitted. 10.ACTION ITEMS 10.A.An Ordinance of the City of San Leandro Amending Chapter 3-8 of the San Leandro Municipal Code to Prohibit the Use of Polystyrene Foam Food Service Ware by All Food Vendors, City Departments, and City Contractors, and at City-Sponsored Events Public Comments on Item 10.A.: Carrie Spector, San Leandroresident , commented on the negative health implications of polystyrene foam use, and stated that the ordinance is a step in the right direction.
