J. Amoroso Construction (Amoroso) <br />Relating to the Use of 2512 Davis Street for Construction Storage Purposes in <br />Support of the Water Pollution Control Plant Project <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a license <br />agreement with S.J. Amoroso, the contractor for the Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) <br />Rehabilitation project, for the empty building located adjacent to the property to store <br />construction equipment and materials. <br />- Tits] life] Yell] 0I W7 <br />The Redevelopment Agency acquired this property in May 2009 at the request of the property <br />owner. The property was acquired for the future Eden Road Development Project. The <br />property was transferred to the City in March 2011. <br />Analysis <br />The site has been vacant for a number of years and has been subject to occurrences of <br />vandalism and theft, including theft of copper wire and the water heater. In addition, thieves <br />are accessing adjacent properties by and through this site. Most recently, a number of <br />mattresses were dumped on the site and S.J. Amoroso reported that thieves had accessed <br />the construction site through this property. Amoroso approached the City and asked if it could <br />use the site to store equipment and materials for the WPCP Rehabilitation project. Amoroso <br />has agreed to pay the City $2,664 per month for at least 18 months to use the site, and may <br />continue to remain on the site on a month -to- month basis as long as construction continues <br />and the property is not needed for the Eden Road project. Amoroso has also agreed to take <br />the property as is, with minimal utilities. Staff believes that this is an opportunity to eliminate <br />City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 113112012 <br />
