SECTION 6. OVERTIME (Contd.) <br /> 6 -month period, while others have been afforded more than one opportunity to work <br /> overtime, said employee may seek remedy under the grievance procedure. <br /> E. OVERTIME OPPORTUNITY LIST. An overtime opportunity list shall be used to <br /> call in persons, in the bargaining unit, for overtime. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> SECTION 7. CALL BACK <br /> A minimum of 3 hours compensation at the premium rate will be granted for an off duty <br /> employee called back to work and thereafter, compensation shall be on an hour- for -hour <br /> basis. Compensation at the premium rate may be in cash, compensatory time off, or a <br /> combination thereof, at the discretion of the Department Head. <br /> SECTION 8. LEAVES OF ABSENCE <br /> A. MILITARY LEAVE. Every employee shall be entitled to military leaves of absence <br /> as specified in Chapter 7, Part 1, Division 2 of the California Military and Veterans <br /> Code. The employee must present to the SupervisorBattalion Chief a copy of his/her <br /> military orders which specify the dates and duration of such leave. <br /> If such employee shall have been continuously employed by the County/Department <br /> for at least one year prior to the date such absence begins, he/she shall be entitled to <br /> receive paid military leave as follows: <br /> 1. Paid military leave which may be granted during a fiscal year is limited to an <br /> aggregate of 30 calendar days during ordered military leave, including <br /> weekend days and travel time. <br /> 2. During the period specified in 8.A.1. above, the employee shall be entitled to <br /> receive pay only for those shifts or fractions of shifts which the employee would <br /> have been scheduled to work and would have worked but for the military leave. <br /> 3. The rate of pay and accrual of benefits shall be the same rate the employee • <br /> would have received for shifts he/she would have been scheduled to work or • <br /> scheduled for paid holiday leave, had he/she not been on military leave. <br /> 4. In no event shall an employee be paid for time he/she would not have been <br /> scheduled to work during said military leave. <br /> Time spent on military leave shall be included in determining eligibility to occupy a <br /> classification based upon length of service. <br /> B. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. Leave of absence with pay because of death in the <br /> immediate family of a person in the Department service may be granted by the Chief <br /> for a period not to exceed three consecutive scheduled shifts or equivalent days. <br /> Entitlement to leave of absence under this section shall be in addition to any other <br /> entitlement for sick leave, emergency leave, or any other leave. For purposes of this <br /> section, "immediate family" means mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, <br /> wife, son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, brother, sister, foster parent, foster child, <br /> 172 <br /> FIRE - 6 <br />
