• • <br /> SECTION 9. HOLIDAYS <br /> Employees are compensated for the holidays listed below at an hourly rate of 12 hours <br /> on a 56 -hour schedule. Holidays are paid twice a year beginning with the Christmas <br /> holiday, the first six being paid on June 1 and the remaining seven being paid on <br /> December 1 of each year. Persons newly employed or re- employed shall not be <br /> entitled to payment for holidays which occurred while they were not employed by the <br /> Department and employees leaving the service of the Department shall be paid only <br /> for those holidays which have occurred prior to the date of separation. <br /> New Year's Day Admission Day • <br /> • Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Columbus Day <br /> • Lincoln's Birthday Veterans' Day <br /> Washington's Birthday Thanksgiving Day <br /> • Memorial Day Day After Thanksgiving Day <br /> Independence Day Christmas Day <br /> • Labor Day <br /> All other days appointed by the President of the United States or the Governor of the <br /> State of California as a nation -wide or State -wide public holiday, day of fast, day of <br /> mourning, or day of thanksgiving, provided that observance of the day as a paid <br /> holiday is approved in writing by three or more members of the Board of Supervisors. <br /> SECTION 10. VACATIONS <br /> A. VACATION ACCRUAL. <br /> 1. Vacations are accrued as follows: <br /> a. 7 shifts per year (14 hrs /month) until after completion of 4 years of <br /> service. <br /> b. 10 shifts per year (20 hrs /month) after completion of 4 _yea•s of service <br /> until the completion of 14 years of service. <br /> c. 12 shifts per year (24 hrs /month) after completion of 14 years of service <br /> and thereafter. <br /> Employees who work 40 hours per week will accrue vacation proportionately, using <br /> a factor of .7143 to calculate. <br /> 2. a . All represented employees shall be allowed to accrue to a maximum of <br /> two times annual vacation accrual. <br /> b. Effective January 1, 1994, represented employees shall be allowed to <br /> take up to two times their annual vacation accrual in a calendar year. <br /> 1. An employee who accrues 7 shifts per year may take a <br /> maximum of 14 shifts in any calendar year providing he /she has <br /> accumulated sufficient unused vacation leave. <br /> 174 <br /> FIRE - 8 <br />
