An employee who accrues 10 shifts per year may take a <br /> maximum of 20 shifts in any calendar year providing he/she has <br /> accumulated sufficient unused vacation leave. <br /> 3. An employee who accrues 12 shifts per year may take a <br /> maximum of 24 shifts in any calendar year providing he/she has <br /> accumulated sufficient unused vacation leave. <br /> • <br /> c. Once an employee schedules his/her annual vacation, those hours are <br /> • . . considered used and must be taken. Those scheduled hours will not be • • <br /> applied to the maximum accrual. <br /> • <br /> B. WHEN FIRST VACATION IS DUE. Vacation credit and the first vacation leave for <br /> any employee shall be due only after the completion of at Least the equivalent of 365 <br /> calendar days of employment. <br /> C. RATE OF VACATION PAY. Compensation during vacation shall be at the rate of <br /> compensation which such person would have been entitled to receive if in active <br /> service during such vacation period. This does not include any acting pay. <br /> D. ANNUAL VACATION SELECTION. <br /> 1. The Chief shall in each case determine when vacation leave may be taken. <br /> • <br /> 2. Vacations are pre- selected prior to the vacation year, during an established <br /> pre - selection period. Annual vacation will be selected in accordance with the <br /> seniority of the members by shift regardless of rank, but they shall at no time <br /> interfere with the efficient operation of the department. Employees may elect <br /> to split vacations, but if vacation is split, no employee will be allowed a second <br /> leave period that will interfere with another employee's first choice. Up to one <br /> and one -half times an employee's annual accrual may be selected in the first <br /> and second rounds of pre - selection. The remaining one -half may be selected <br /> subsequently in a third "informal" selection. <br /> E. Annual vacation will be equalized through the year, so that all companies can • <br /> maintain minimum staffing, as determines] by the Chief. <br /> F. MAXIMUM VACATION LEAVE. An employee shall be allowed to take two times <br /> his/her annual vacation accrual during any calendar year, provided that he/she has <br /> accumulated sufficient unused vacation leave. <br /> G. CASH PAYMENT IN LIEU OF VACATION LEAVE. An employee who has <br /> completed the equivalent of 365 calendar days of employment who leaves the <br /> Department service for any reason shall be paid at the hourly rate as set forth in <br /> Section 6.C. for unused vacation accrued to the date of separation, provided that such <br /> entitlement shall not exceed vacation earned during the two years of employment <br /> preceding such separation. <br /> Employees shall have the primary responsibility to schedule and take sufficient <br /> vacation leave to reduce their accrued vacation leave balances to levels which do not • <br /> exceed the amount for which they can receive cash payment hereunder upon <br /> termination, as provided in 10.A.2.a. above. <br /> • -- 175 <br /> FIRE -9 <br />
