• • <br /> SECTION 20. GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE (Contd.) <br /> are specifically excluded from so acting. The Union shall be notified of all grievances <br /> filed pursuant to Section 20.D.2. In those cases in which an employee elects to <br /> represent himself or arranges for independent representation, the County/Department <br /> shall make no settlement or award which shall be inconsistent with the terms and <br /> conditions of this Memorandum. In the event the Union shall determine that such <br /> inconsistent award has been made, the Union, on its own behalf, may file a grievance <br /> • pursuant to paragraph D.S. of this section for the purpose of amending such award. <br /> • In the event any unrepresented or independently represented employee shall elect-to . <br /> go to arbitration under paragraph F. hereof, the Union may elect to be a full and <br /> • equal party to such proceeding for the purpose of protecting the interests of its <br /> members in negotiated conditions of employment. <br /> SECTION 21. RETIREMENT <br /> A. Employees of the Alameda County Fire Department are members of the Public <br /> Employees' Retirement System. The PERS benefit formula is "2'/ at age 50 ". <br /> Members are entitled to the 1957 Survivors Benefits and the 1959 Survivors Act. The <br /> final compensation average is one year. Employees shall participate in the PERS <br /> Retirement Tax Deferral Plan as authorized under Section 414 (h)(2) of the Internal <br /> Revenue Code. <br /> • <br /> B. It shall be Department policy to purchase plaques for the following: <br /> 1. Service Retirement <br /> 2. Disability Retirement <br /> 3. Expiration <br /> The plaques shall be mounted on the monument at the headquarters station. Inscriptions <br /> shall be determined by circumstances of retirement. <br /> SECTION 22. VISION REIMBURSEMENT <br /> Employees are. eligible for vision care reimbursement subject to the following criteria: an <br /> employee is eligible for such reimbursement after six months' continuous employment, • <br /> working at least 50'7c or more time. The employee will be reimbursed for the cost of either <br /> lenses and frames or contact lenses specifically prescribed for the employee only, up to a <br /> maximum of 5100 in a twenty-four (24) month period, beginning January 1, 1994. <br /> SECTION 23. STATION SUPPLY <br /> The Department shall provide the following: <br /> A. Each employee shall be issued two sheets, a pillow, a pillowcase, two blankets, and <br /> a bedspread. Clean linen shall be issued to each employee weekly. Blankets and <br /> bedspreads shall be cleaned in accordance with departmental policy. <br /> 13. Bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, and dish towels shall also be issued weekly. <br /> C. Plates, eating and cooking utensils, pots, pans, cups, glasses, a refrigerator, stove, <br /> dishwasher, and toaster. <br /> i91 <br /> • FIRE - 25 <br /> • <br />
