• • <br /> APPENDIX B <br /> FIRE TRAINING INCENTIVE AWARD PROGRAM <br /> Definition and Purpose <br /> A voluntary Fire Training Incentive Award Program is established in the Alameda <br /> County Fire Department. This program provides incentives in the form of separate <br /> monetary awards for qualified employees of the above firejurisdictions who complete <br /> approved fire training programs to improve their individual knowledge and competence " <br /> • in the field of fire suppression and prevention. Implied throughout this Fire Training <br /> Incentive Award Program is the premise that the training successfully achieved should <br /> reflect itself in job performance. <br /> II. Fire Science/Fire Service Technology Certificate or Associate of Arts Degree in Fire <br /> Science/Fire Service Technology or Continuing Education Units <br /> Any employee who has successfully completed his/her probationary period may <br /> be eligible to qualify for one and only one of the Fire Training Incentive Awards • <br /> described below. For those employees receiving the EMT differential in Section <br /> II above, classes taken for EMT courses cannot be credited for any of the <br /> educational incentive pay in Section III. <br /> A. An eligible employee possessing a valid Fire Science/Fire Service Technology <br /> Certificate or an Associate of Arts Degree in Fire Science/Fire Service <br /> Technology shall be entitled to receive thirty dollars ($30) per month. • <br /> B. Eligible employees who do not possess a valid Fire Science/Fire Service Technology <br /> Certificate or an Associate of Arts Degree in Fire Science/Fire Service Technology and <br /> who have successfully completed six quarter units or four semester units during the <br /> calendar year (January through December) shall be entitled to receive twenty -five <br /> dollars ($25) per month for twelve months beginning the subsequent January. To be <br /> eligible for this award, an employee must receive a grade of C or better in courses at <br /> an accredited college or university previously approved by the Chief of the Department. <br /> C. Eligible employees who possess either a valid Fire Science/Fire Service Technology . <br /> Certificate or an Associate of Arts Degree in Fire Science/Fire Service Technology and <br /> who have successfully completed six quarter units or four semester units during the <br /> calendar year (January through December) shall be entitled to receive forty -five dollars <br /> ($45) per month for twelve months beginning the subsequent January. To be eligible <br /> for this award, an employee must receive a grade of C or better in courses at an <br /> accredited college or university previously approved by the Chief of the Department. <br /> FIRE -29 195 <br />
