•
•
PROCEDURES GOVERNING DEPARTMENTAL PARTICIPATION ON ORAL BOARD
The following policies are intended to serve as guidelines upon which future operating
department participation in the oral appraisal interview for both open and promotional
examinations is to be based.
The oral appraisal interview board should ordinarily consist .of at least two members
(except for entry level, open examinations.) .
When the classification being examined for requires knowledge or skill in a specific
field, at least one board member should possess experience in that field.
•
Candidates who are rescheduled for their oral appraisal interview may be interviewed
by the board individually at a later date, provided the board member agrees to make
him/her self available, or may be examined by a County interviewer only.
When an oral appraisal board member has prior knowledge of the candidate's
background/experience, the candidate may ask to exclude said board member from the
interview, and similarly the board member may ask to excuse him/herself from the
interview.
Departmental interviewers should minimize the number of times they sit as a rating
member for candidates from within their department or agency.
Operating agencies and departments may have rating participants, except that the
individual(s) making hiring decisions should not rate candidates from within his/her
department or agency.
•
•
• • 211
FIRE -4r5
