The City requires, as a condition of continued employment, <br /> all employees to have the appropriate Drivers License for <br /> their classification or job assignment (as specified <br /> below), EMT certificate and the First Responder <br /> Defibrillator Certif icate. An employee who fails to <br /> maintain the appropriate certificates will be granted, at <br /> the Department's expense, one (1) opportunity during the <br /> • six (6) month period after the employee becomes <br /> disqualified, to regain the appropriate certificates. An <br /> additional opportunity will be provided during the next <br /> six (6) month period to regain the appropriate certificate <br /> at the employee's expense. Employees eligible for premium. <br /> pay will not receive such pay while they do not possess _. <br /> the certificate. A probationary employee shell enroll in <br /> the appropriate class to achieve the above requirements • <br /> during the employee's first twelve (12) mcnths of <br /> employment with the City and shall, as a condition of <br /> continued employment, fulfill all requirements and receive <br /> the appropriate licenses and certificates prior to the <br /> completion of the •employee's probationary period. Such <br /> training on the part of the probationary employee shall be <br /> at no cost to the City. <br /> All Fire Fighters, Engineers and Captains are required to <br /> have a valid Class B Drivers License. Training with the <br /> a fate equipment will be done during the employee's <br /> working hours. <br /> Section 38. Separability of Provisions <br /> Should any section, clause or provision of this Memorandum • <br /> of Understanding be declared illegal by final judgment of <br /> a court of competent jurisdiction., such invalidation of <br /> such section:, clause cr provision shall not invalidate the <br /> remaining portions hereof, and such remaining portions <br /> shall remain in full force and effect for the duration <br /> of this Memorandum of Understanding. <br /> This Memorandum of Understanding shall supersede all <br /> existing Memoranda of Understanding between the City and, <br /> the Association. It is mutually recommended that the " <br /> modifications shown above shall be made applicable on the <br /> dates indicated and these modifications represent the full <br /> and final settlement of all proposals made by'the San <br /> Leandro Fire Fighters' Association. <br /> This Memorandum of Understanding and the recommended <br /> modifications herein shall commence on June 1, 1993, and <br /> shall remain in effect through May 31, 1995, except for <br /> those provisions assigned other effective dates. <br /> oo0oo <br /> -37- <br /> 261 <br /> • <br />
