• APPENDIX B • DRAFT <br /> FIRE TRAINING INCEN'T'IVE AWARD PROGRAM <br /> I. Definition and Purpose <br /> • A voluntary Fire Training Incentive Award Program is established in the Alameda County <br /> Fire Department. This program provides incentives in the form of separate monetary awards <br /> for qualified employees of the above fire jurisdictions who complete approved fire. training <br /> programs to improve their individual knowledge and competence in the field of fire <br /> suppression and prevention. Implied throughout this Fire Training Incentive Award Program <br /> is the premise that the training successfully achieved should reflect itself in job performance. <br /> II. Fire Science/Fire Service Technology Certificate or Associate of Arts Degree in Fire <br /> Science/Fire Service Technology or Continuing Education Units <br /> • Any employee who has successfully completed his/her probationary period may be eligible <br /> to qualify for one and only one of the Fire Training Incentive Awards described below. For <br /> those employees receiving the EMT differential in Section II above, classes taken for EMT • <br /> courses cannot be credited for any of the educational incentive pay in Section III. <br /> A. An eligible employee possessing a valid Fire Science/Fire Service Technology <br /> Certificate or an Associate of Arts Degree in Fire Science/Fire Service Technology shall <br /> be entitled to receive thirty dollars ($30) per month. <br /> • <br /> B. Eligible employees who do not possess a valid Fire Science/Fire Service Technology <br /> Certificate or an Associate of Arts Degree in Fire Science/Fire Service Technology and who <br /> have successfully completed six quarter units or four semester units during the calendar year <br /> (January through December) shall be entitled to receive twenty -five dollars ($25) per month <br /> for twelve months beginning the subsequent January. To be eligible for this award, an <br /> employee must receive a grade of C or better in courses at an accredited college or university <br /> previously approved by the Chief of the Department. . <br /> • <br /> • C. Eligible employees who possess either a valid Fire Science/Fire Service Technology <br /> • <br /> Certificate or an Associate of Arts Degree in Fire Science/Fire Service Technology and who <br /> have successfully completed six quarter units or four semester units during the calendar year <br /> (January through December) shall be entitled to receive forty -five dollars ($45) per month for <br /> twelve months beginning the subsequent January.
