• • 1 <br /> 'ar .l <br /> Appendix C <br /> Page 7 <br /> 1344 Right to 'Appeal (Coned) <br /> the event there is not sufficient time for the Commission to act on such appeal, the director may <br /> allow the appellant to participate on a provisional basis pending decision of the Commission on <br /> the appeal. <br /> • <br /> 1348 Notice of Admission • <br /> Each applicant whose application is accepted shall be furnished with a notice of admission to the <br /> examination for which he has filed. • <br /> 1352 Applications Confidential <br /> Neither the names of applicants for an examination or the names of those who fail in an <br /> examination shall be made public. <br /> 1354 Applications Not Returnable <br /> Applications filed with the Commission shall become the property of the Commission and shall <br /> not be returned to applicants. <br /> EXAMINATIONS <br /> 1400 Competition <br /> Except as provided in rule 1404 and rule 1408, all examinations shall be competitive and shall <br /> be designed to determine the qualifications, fitness, and ability of competitors to perform the <br /> duties of the class for which the examination is being given. Examinations may be written, oral, <br /> performance, physical, or a combination thereof. They may take into account such factors as <br /> experience, education, aptitude, capacity, knowledge, skill, character, physical fitness, or any <br /> other factor, quality, or attribute, including moral character and reputation, that may determine <br /> the relative fitness of a competitor. <br /> • <br /> 1404 Suspension of Competition <br /> In the case of a vacancy requiring peculiar and exceptional qualifications of a scientific, <br /> professional, or expert character, upon satisfactory evidence adduced at a public hearing that <br /> competition is impracticable and that the position can best be filled by the selection of a person <br /> of recognized attainments, the Commission may order the competitive examination suspended, <br /> but no such suspension shall be general in its application to such position, and all such cases of <br /> suspension of competition shall be reported by the Commission, together with the reasons <br /> therefor, to the Board of Supervisors. <br /> IAFF Local 1428 - Management Unit R-34 <br /> January 1, 1994 - December 31, 1995 <br /> 30 <br /> - 2 9 8 Local 1428-AVUft2 <br /> RUdm -NI MI5 <br />
