Appendix C • • 7 <br /> Page 12 '' l d <br /> 1492 Disposition of Papers and Records <br /> . Prescribed application forms of persons who fail to appear for the written test and examination <br /> records of candidates who fail to qualify in the written test shall be destroyed at any tiine after <br /> thirty days from the date of promulgation of the eligible list. Examination records of candidates <br /> who qualify in an examination shall be retained during the life of the eligible list or for 15 <br /> months, whichever is longer, and the examination records of each appointee shall be filed in his <br /> permanent personnel folder. <br /> • <br /> Following the period during which competitors may inspect their examination papers, and after <br /> their ratings in each part of the examination have been transferred to examination records, <br /> examination materials such as question booklets, answer sheets and work papers may be <br /> destroyed, but general qualification appraisal sheets and applications shall be retained at least <br /> 15 months from the date of the promulgation of the eligible list. <br /> APPOINTMENT <br /> 1744 Reinstatement Following Resignation <br /> On the request of the department head and approval of the Commission, a regularly appointed <br /> employee who resigned in good standing may, within three years after the effective date of his <br /> resignation, be reinstated in a position in the class from which he resigned or in a position in <br /> another class for which he may be eligible as determined by the Commission. Appointments by <br /> reinstatement following resignation are subject to the probationary period established for the <br /> class. <br /> REDUCTION IN FORCE, LAY -OFF, RE- EMPLOYMENT, REINSTATEMENT <br /> 2000 Jurisdiction of Commission <br /> All Lay -offs and demotions in lieu thereof resulting from reduction in force in the classified <br /> service shall be made in accordance with these rules and the procedures established by the <br /> Commission for an orderly reduction in force. • <br /> 2004 Jurisdiction of Department Head <br /> Whenever it becomes necessary to reduce the number of employees of a department, the <br /> department head shall determine the class(es) to be affected by the reduction, the numberof <br /> positions by which each class shall be reduced, the date the reduction is to take effect and shall <br /> notify the Commission of these determinations.
