Recent inspection reports for the bridge that carries San Leandro Boulevard over
San Leandro Creek indicate that some of the concrete is damaged and that two pipe outfalls
have caused erosion under the bridge. Recent inspection reports for the bridge that carries
Wicks Boulevard over the Estudillo Canal (located immediately north of Stenzel Park) indicate
that small cracks are present and should be sealed to prevent water entry.
San Leandro Boulevard and Wicks Boulevard are both arterial streets within the City.

Analysis
This project will replace the damaged concrete and fill the eroded areas with rock or ‘rip rap’
at the San Leandro Boulevard bridge. It will also apply a concrete deck sealer to the Wicks
Boulevard bridge. The design of this work follows common engineering practice.
Failure to repair the existing damage could eventually result in unsafe bridges.
Current Agency Policies
Maintain and enhance the City’s infrastructure .
Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 5/14/2013
