line 1 registered nurses, community groups representing, among others, <br /> line 2 patients, labor, seniors, and consumers, and other health-related <br /> line 3 organizations. Particular attention shall be given to persons who <br /> line 4 are themselves underserved and who work with underserved and <br /> line 5 vulnerable populations. Particular attention shall also be given to <br /> line 6 identifying local needs to address racial and ethnic disparities in <br /> line 7 health outcomes. A private nonprofit hospital or nonprofit <br /> line 8 multispecialty clinic may create a community benefits advisory <br /> line 9 committee for the purpose of soliciting community input. <br /> line 10 (c) In preparing its community health needs assessment, a private <br /> line 11 nonprofit hospital or nonprofit multispecialty clinic shall use <br /> line 12 available public health data. A private nonprofit hospital or <br /> line 13 nonprofit multispecialty clinic may collaborate with other facilities <br /> line 14 and health care institutions in conducting community health needs <br /> line 15 assessments and may make use of existing studies in completing <br /> line 16 their own needs assessments. <br /> line 17 (d) Prior to completing a community health needs assessment, <br /> line 18 a private nonprofit hospital or nonprofit multispecialty clinic shall <br /> line 19 make available to the public a copy of the assessment for review <br /> line 20 and comment. <br /> line 21 (e) A community health needs assessment shall be filed with <br /> line 22 the office. A private nonprofit hospital or a nonprofit multispecialty <br /> line 23 clinic shall update its community needs assessment at least every <br /> line 24 three years. <br /> line 25 127477. (a) By April 1, 2015, a private nonprofit hospital or <br /> line 26 nonprofit multispecialty clinic shall develop a community benefits <br /> line 27 plan that conforms with this chapter. <br /> line 28 (b) In developing a community benefits plan, a private nonprofit <br /> line 29 hospital or nonprofit multispecialty clinic shall solicit comments <br /> line 30 from and meet with local government officials, including <br /> line 31 representatives of local public health departments. A private <br /> line 32 nonprofit hospital or nonprofit multispecialty clinic shall also <br /> line 33 solicit comments from and meet with health care providers, <br /> line 34 community groups representing, among others, patients, labor, <br /> line 35 seniors, and consumers, and other health-related organizations. <br /> line 36 Particular attention shall be given to persons who are themselves <br /> line 37 underserved, who work with underserved and vulnerable <br /> line 38 populations, and who work with populations at risk for racial and <br /> line 39 ethnic disparities in health outcomes. <br />96 <br />— 12 —AB 975 <br />
