Staff <br />recommends the City Council award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Fanfa Inc., <br />in the amount of $123,000.00 for the subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On March 2, 2009, the City received notice from the East Bay Regional Parks District <br />(EBRPD) of its eligibility for $3,740,998 in Measure WW Park Bond funds. The funds are for <br />the development of neighborhood, community and regional parks and recreation lands and <br />facilities. After completing a community process, the City developed a ranked list of City park <br />improvement projects for the City Council to consider funding with these funds. In the <br />2010-2011 fiscal year budget, nine projects, including the Stenzel Park Drainage Project, were <br />approved as part of the Capital Improvement Program. <br />City Staff noted that rainwater ponded at the northwest portion of the ball field at Stenzel Park . <br />This is an ongoing issue that recurs each winter, affecting the usability of the field and <br />creating maintenance problems. <br />This project will remove sections of turf and the upper layer of soil in the ponding area. An <br />underground drainage system will be installed to increase the field’s tolerance for water . The <br />surface will be repaired with new top soil and sod. <br />Analysis <br />The bids were opened on June 27, 2013. Six (6) bids were received ranging from <br />$123,000.00 to $201,589.00.
