Below were the outcomes: <br /> <br /> Five (5) cases are pending; <br /> One (1) case was closed by referral; <br /> One (1) case showed no discrimination; <br /> Five (5) cases were dropped. <br /> Two (2) clients dropped their complaints due to insufficient evidence; <br /> Four (4) cases were conciliated by ECHO Housing. <br /> Four (4) cases were resolved by ECHO Housing <br /> <br /> ECHO’s fair housing counselors conducted eleven (11) fair housing training sessions: <br /> <br /> Three (3) sessions for eighty-seven (87) landlords and property managers; <br /> One (1) Fair Housing Seminar for thirty (30) persons; <br /> Two (2) sessions for six (6) tenants or potential homebuyers; <br /> Five (5) general presentations for 123 persons. <br /> <br /> ECHO Housing raised awareness in the community about fair housing through ninety- <br />one (91) public service announcements [sent to 91 radio and television stations] and <br />distribution of 590 educational fliers to the public libraries in Alameda County, non- <br />profit agencies, community centers, and local festivals and fairs. In celebration of April <br />Fair Housing Month, ECHO Housing received a Fair Housing Mayoral Proclamation <br />from the City of San Leandro in recognition of Fair Housing Month at the April 1st, 2013 <br />City Council Meeting. <br /> <br /> ECHO Housing conducted twelve (12) random and targeted audits to gauge the level of <br />discrimination in the rental housing market. The analysis of these paired audits that are <br />designed to measure the level of discrimination based on voice identification. ECHO <br />Housing tested a total of twelve (12) rental properties in San Leandro. The audit report <br />was released April 2013. <br /> <br />Priority # 5. Maintain and improve the current capacity of the housing and <br />shelter system, expanding transitional and permanent supportive housing, and <br />providing services to homeless individuals and families, including integrated <br />health care, employment services and other supportive services. <br /> <br />Activities: <br /> Building Futures with Women and Children (BFWC) - San Leandro Shelter <br />The City funded BFWC with CDBG funds to provide supportive services to homeless families at <br />its emergency shelter, known as the San Leandro Shelter. BFWC provided emergency shelter <br />and support services, which included 10,938 nights, of which 398 beds were supported by the <br />City, and 32,814 meals for 267 San Leandro homeless women and children (182 women and 85 <br />children) in crisis. All 182 women received access to health care and group sessions which help <br />to advance essential skills, such as employment strategies, money management, housing <br />strategies, parenting skills, and other basic life skills. Of the 120 women who exited the San <br />Leandro Shelter, fifty-one (51), or 43%, exited to permanent housing.
