Resolution of Commendation Recognizing the Contributions of Joseph P. <br /> Egan, Personnel Relations Board Member. <br /> Mayor Corbett presented the Resolution of Commendation to Mr. Joseph P. <br /> Egan. She thanked him for his many years of devoted service and <br /> commitment to the City and said his union experience had served the <br /> City well . Mr. Egan thanked the City Council and said San Leandro is <br /> a great town. He said Mario Polvorosa has been his mentor, and he <br /> hopes the Council will continue to do things like Mr. Polvorosa did. <br /> B. Resolution of Commendation Recognizing the Contributions of Vernon <br /> Hesseltine, Planning Commissioner Member. <br /> Mayor Corbett presented the Resolution of Commendation to Mr. Vernon <br /> Hesseltine and commended him for his quiet advocacy and insistence on <br /> finding out what the community has to say. Mr. Hesseltine said he <br /> received a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction from serving on the <br /> Commission. He thanked his wife, Lou, for her support. He noted he <br /> would continue to serve until his replacement is named. He said San <br /> Leandro is a wonderful place to live and has a great future before it. <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited <br /> to make any comments related to Agenda items (including San Leandro <br /> Redevelopment Agency, San Leandro Parking Authority, and San Leandro <br /> Industrial Development Authority) or other items of public interest at this <br /> time. Comments regarding Public Hearing items will be heard during the <br /> Public Hearing portion of the Agenda. <br /> A. Martin A. Francis, 964 Dowling Boulevard, recommended that the City, <br /> State, and American flags be hung in the stairwell of the City Hall <br /> addition and that the 1996 Flag Day Ceremony be held at the new <br /> building. Mayor Corbett said staff is currently studying the <br /> accoutrements for the building and will consider his suggestion. <br /> B. George Piraldi , Owner of Property on Cedar Street, asked questions <br /> regarding the assessment on his property-tax bill for Flood Control . <br /> In response to his questions, City Attorney Steve Meyers said the <br /> assessment is for Alameda County Flood Control District improvements. <br /> He said it does not provide property owners with flood insurance; it <br /> provides for maintenance of the flood-control system. <br /> C. Benjamin Rodrigues, Maracaibo Road, spoke regarding recent vandalism to <br /> parking meters. Mike Oliver, City Manager, said the Parking Authority <br /> has funds to repair the meters. <br />
