CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Galvan, Kerr, Loeffler, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Corbett <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> A. Proclamation Declaring February 12-18, 1995, "Random Acts of Kindness <br /> Week." <br /> Mayor Corbett read the Proclamation and presented it to Harold Kitzmann <br /> of the Optimist Club. Mr. Kitzmann said it is the Optimist Club' s <br /> pleasure to spearhead this program. He encouraged everyone to perform <br /> an act of kindness. He said, when you do something good for others, it <br /> comes back to you tenfold. <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited <br /> to make any comments related to Agenda items (including San Leandro <br /> Redevelopment Agency, San Leandro Parking Authority, and San Leandro <br /> Industrial Development Authority) or other items of public interest at this <br /> time. Comments regarding Public Hearing items will be heard during the <br /> Public Hearing portion of the Agenda. <br /> A. Dana Johnson spoke regarding problems with speeding on Durant Avenue; <br /> suggested the Mayors of Alameda, Oakland and San Leandro submit a toxic <br /> remediation plan to Congress, in keeping with suggestions by Newt <br /> Gingrich; asked if cutbacks considered in previous budget years would <br /> be considered to address the potential 1995-96 deficit; and requested <br /> that the Mayor stop the hiring of new police officers because the City <br /> cannot afford it and should think about turning the Crime Bill funds <br /> down. <br /> B. Casmar Jancek, 15906 Via Cordova, San Lorenzo, a member of the <br /> Citizens' Advisory Committee on Redevelopment in Alameda County, said <br /> the City should encourage Alameda County to construct its new building <br /> on East 14th Street between 159th and 162nd Avenues or on Ashland <br /> Avenue. He said this would help generate customers and revenue for <br /> Bayfair. <br />
