Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - May 1, 1995 Page - 11 - NEW BUSINESS (continued) Q. Resolution Re-Appointing Member to Recreation and Parks Commission (At Large) - Elmer Costa. Mayor Corbett said she is honored Mr. Costa, a long-term Commissioner who is very active with youth in the City and coaches golf at San Leandro High School , has agreed to continue to serve. The following Resolution was then introduced: Resolution No. 95-75, Resolution Re-Appointing Member to Recreation and Parks Commission (At Large) - Elmer Costa. (1020) Introduced by Council Member Perry, who moved its adoption, seconded by Council Member Galvan, and carried by a majority vote (6) , with Council Member Polvorosa absent (1) . R. Matter of Appointment of Vice Mayor. Mayor Corbett said the Mayor cannot do the job alone - she needs the City Council and the Vice Mayor. She said Vice Mayor Myers has been there and taken care of business when she has been unavailable and made the presence of San Leandro known. She thanked him for all his hard work and especially thanked him for arranging for the Council to have dinner with Senator Feinstein in Washington, D.C. She presented a plaque of appreciation to Vice Mayor Myers. She thanked Mrs. Myers for sharing her husband with the City. Vice Mayor Myers said it has been a pleasure and an honor serving as Vice Mayor and serving the community'. He thanked his peers and said it is an honor to be voted by them to take the position. Council Member Galvan said Vice Mayor Myers has taken him under his wing. He said he admires and respects Vice Mayor Myers for his leadership and commitment. He thanked him for the leadership he exhibited during his year as Vice Mayor. The following Motion was then introduced: Minute Order No. 95-26. Matter of Appointment of Vice Mayor. (1315) On motion by Council Member Galvan, who moved its approval , seconded by Council Member Loeffler, and carried by a majority vote (6) , with Council Member Polvorosa absent (1) , the City Council appointed Council Member Kerr Vice Mayor. Vice Mayor Kerr thanked the Council for their confidence in him. He thanked Kent Myers for all he's done. He said he intends to work closely with the City Council and the Mayor to be a team in everything they do.
