Janet Mohr reminded the Council of the Soroptomist Club's upcoming fund-raising event and said in the past $14,000 has gone to San Leandro teachers. She said the Community Education Foundation has done a lot to support education, and she asked for the Council 's support. H. Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly Drive, said he heard positive comments regarding Bayfair at a Human Relations meeting in Concord. He said the City Council should come together and agree on appointments. I . Lisa Cooper, 15111 Washington Avenue, spoke regarding the termination of child care benefits and asked for assistance. J. Jeff Houston, 1465 Burkhart Avenue, spoke regarding the appointment of the President of the Sentinels to the Planning Commission. He said the Sentinels were founded in San Leandro. He said it is the nature of political action committees to buy politicians, and the Sentinels have been doing so for over 13 years. He said there was an anti-Sentinel - candidates sentiment in the last election. He said San Leandro should be represented by a diverse group of people that represents the diversity of the community. K. Christine Scobee, 495 Fortuna Avenue, said the appointments to intergovernmental agencies should be left to the Mayor and her judgment should not be questioned. In response to a question by Council Member Perry, Ms. Scobee said the Mayor did not ask her to attend the meeting. 6. CONSENT CALENDAR Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered for approval by the City Council with one single action. The City Council may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of discussion. Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title. The Consent Calendar was approved as follows: .Introduced by Council Member Myers, who moved adoption of the Consent Calendar, with all items deemed to have been read by title, seconded by Council Member Loeffler, and carried by a majority vote (6), with Council Member Polvorosa absent (1) . Resolution No. 95-54, Resolution Approving Contractual Services Agreement with San Leandro Chamber of Commerce for Leadership San Leandro Program (provides funding for Chamber of Commerce to conduct "Leadership San Leandro Program" to educate emerging community leaders about current and future community needs and concerns) .
