Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - May 1, 1995 Page - 4 - <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS (continued) <br /> G. Janet Mohr reminded the Council of the Soroptomist Club's upcoming <br /> fund-raising event and said in the past $14,000 has gone to San Leandro <br /> teachers. She said the Community Education Foundation has done a lot <br /> to support education, and she asked for the Council 's support. <br /> H. Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly Drive, said he heard positive comments <br /> regarding Bayfair at a Human Relations meeting in Concord. He said the <br /> City Council should come together and agree on appointments. <br /> I . Lisa Cooper, 15111 Washington Avenue, spoke regarding the termination <br /> of child care benefits and asked for assistance. <br /> J. Jeff Houston, 1465 Burkhart Avenue, spoke regarding the appointment of <br /> the President of the Sentinels to the Planning Commission. He said the <br /> Sentinels were founded in San Leandro. He said it is the nature of <br /> political action committees to buy politicians, and the Sentinels have <br /> been doing so for over 13 years. He said there was an anti-Sentinel - <br /> candidates sentiment in the last election. He said San Leandro should <br /> be represented by a diverse group of people that represents the <br /> diversity of the community. <br /> K. Christine Scobee, 495 Fortuna Avenue, said the appointments to <br /> intergovernmental agencies should be left to the Mayor and her judgment <br /> should not be questioned. In response to a question by Council Member <br /> Perry, Ms. Scobee said the Mayor did not ask her to attend the meeting. <br /> 6. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered <br /> for approval by the City Council with one single action. The City Council <br /> may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of discussion. <br /> Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title. <br /> The Consent Calendar was approved as follows: <br /> .Introduced by Council Member Myers, who moved adoption of the Consent <br /> Calendar, with all items deemed to have been read by title, seconded by <br /> Council Member Loeffler, and carried by a majority vote (6), with Council <br /> Member Polvorosa absent (1) . <br /> A. Resolution No. 95-54, Resolution Approving Contractual Services <br /> Agreement with San Leandro Chamber of Commerce for Leadership San <br /> Leandro Program (provides funding for Chamber of Commerce to conduct <br /> "Leadership San Leandro Program" to educate emerging community leaders <br /> about current and future community needs and concerns) .
