Resolution Appointing Member to Library Historical Commission (District <br /> 5) - Denise Bownds Kaplan. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said many people know Ms. Bownds Kaplan through <br /> her writing for the Times. He said she is a Friend of the Library, has <br /> a degree in Communication, and has a background in computer programming <br /> analysis. He said Ms. Bownds Kaplan has a deep love of books. <br /> The following Resolution was then introduced: <br /> Resolution No. 95-62, Resolution Appointing Member to Library <br /> Historical Commission (District 5) - Denise Bownds Kaplan. (1017) <br /> Introduced by Council Member Loeffler, who moved its adoption, seconded <br /> by Council Member Perry, and carried by a majority vote (6) , with <br /> Council Member Polvorosa absent (1) . <br /> The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Ms. Bownds Kaplan. <br /> Ms. Bownds Kaplan said she is honored by the appointment and loves the <br /> community. <br /> E. Resolution Appointing Member to Planning Commission (District 1) - Dale <br /> Reed. <br /> Council Member Gal van gave a report on Mr. Reed's many years of service <br /> to the community through a wide variety of activities. He said he is <br /> proud to name Mr. Reed as his nominee. He said it upsets him that <br /> there has been an attempt to besmirch the character of a valuable <br /> resource for San Leandro. He said he takes offense to Mr. Houston's <br /> inference that he was bought by the Sentinels and said it would be <br /> short-sighted to overlook all of Mr. Reed's contributions to this <br /> community just because he is a member of a pro-business group. <br /> The following Resolution was then introduced: <br /> Resolution No. 95-63, Resolution Appointing Member to Planning <br /> Commission (District 1) - Dale Reed. (1018) <br /> Introduced by Council Member Galvan, who moved its adoption, seconded <br /> by Council Member Kerr, and carried by a majority vote (4) , with <br /> Council Member Loeffler and Mayor Corbett voting no (2) , and Council <br /> Member Polvorosa absent (1) . <br /> The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Reed. Mr. Reed <br /> thanked the City of San Leandro for all the opportunities he has been <br /> given. He said he is pleased to use his knowledge and experience to <br /> see that San Leandro goes forward. <br />
