Matter of a Work Session to Discuss the <br /> Mayor's 10-Point Plan for Community Participation. (1054) <br /> On motion by Council Member Kerr, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Loeffler, and carried by a majority vote (6) , with <br /> Council Member Polvorosa absent (1) , the City Council called a Special <br /> Meeting for Monday, May 22, 1995, at 7:00 p.m. , at the Community <br /> Library Center, Conference Room B, for a Work Session to Discuss the <br /> Mayor's Ten-Point Plan for Community Participation. <br /> C. Vice Mayor Kerr said he is glad the Council is going to get together, <br /> and it is important that they work toward the same goals. <br /> Vice Mayor Kerr asked why the San Lorenzo Homeowners' Association was <br /> not notified of the Roberts Landing matter. Staff explained the <br /> process for notification of Planning Commission and City Council agenda <br /> items. <br /> Vice Mayor Kerr thanked Dennis Smith for his efforts in involving four <br /> agencies in the Dayton baseball field issue. <br /> D. Council Member Loeffler said the joint meeting of the Boards and <br /> Commissions and City Council was a pioneer effort and a great step <br /> forward. <br /> Council Member Loeffler complimented staff and the Bancroft Middle <br /> School for the excellent marshland dedication. <br /> Council Member Loeffler complimented the San Leandro postal workers for <br /> their food-collection drive for the Davis Street Community Center. <br /> Council Member Loeffler discussed the May 12 dedication of the new <br /> Amtrak Station in Oakland, dedicated to C. E. Dellums, a pioneer in <br /> civil rights and unionization of porters. He said it was an historic <br /> event. He said there is increased need for improvements to railroad <br /> crossings in San Leandro. He provided information regarding Goodyear <br /> crossings. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said the City Council was described as being <br /> fractured. He said the Council is sometimes divided, but it is okay to <br /> disagree and argue individual points, and the Council does come <br /> together. <br /> E. Council Member Myers said he attended his child's wedding on Saturday <br /> and was unable to attend the marshland dedication. <br /> Council Member Myers asked why the April 17th Minutes had been delayed; <br /> staff explained the press of business and lack of staff. <br />
