Connie Calvert, 263 Santa Susana, Mission Bay Mobilehome Park, said the
park owners want to include two clauses in the agreement which will
pass the cost of disaster repairs to the park on to park residents.
She said people have trouble surviving on their incomes without
additional costs. She requested that the City Council investigate rent
control for the park.
Vice Mayor Kerr said the park owners are currently negotiating with the
residents' representatives. He said the City Council Mobile Home
Policy Subcommittee will meet when negotiations are over.
D. Dana Johnson, Farrelly Drive, said Council Member Loeffler said the
City needs more low-income housing. Mr. Johnson said the City does not
need more low-income housing, and drug arrests have been made in front
of existing low-income housing. He said low-income housing is one of
the reasons people are moving out. He said he finds it offensive that
an elected official would promote low-income housing.
