Council Member Loeffler said the School District conducted a three- <br /> day process to create a strategic plan. The process involved <br /> citizens from the community and people from City government. The <br /> School District is creating a vision and a lot of activities over <br /> the next five years. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said he was impressed by the strong support <br /> of the Friends of the Library. They donated $20,000 to the Library <br /> and donated money to the Summer Reading Program carnival . He said <br /> this is a powerful effort to promote reading. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said Pat McClellan had written an article <br /> in the National League of Cities newsletter regarding what San <br /> Leandro is doing to promote safety for its residents. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said the skateboard park is in use and he <br /> commended the young people. He said there is still concern about <br /> young people skateboarding in the downtown area who may not know <br /> about the park. <br /> E. Council Member Myers said there is a lot of litter on Marina <br /> Boulevard. Also some of the signs on stores in the area appear to <br /> be illegal . He has received complaints that the areas at the foot <br /> of Marina Boulevard and at the apartment complexes have a lot of <br /> people walking back and forth in the late afternoon, as well as <br /> cars double parked, creating the perception of gang activity. He <br /> said a greater police presence is needed. <br /> Council Member Myers said refrigerated trucks park overnight on the <br /> west side of Doolittle Drive, between Marina and Williams, with the <br /> refrigeration units running. <br /> F. Mayor Corbett said the National League of Cities newsletter will <br /> have an article recognizing San Leandro as one of three cities in <br /> the nation to receive an Innovative Cities award for its home <br /> strengthening program. <br /> Mayor Corbett said City Hall in the Mall will be highlighted in the <br /> next edition of the U.S. Conference of Mayors newsletter. <br /> 11. ADJOURN <br /> The City Council adjourned its meeting at 10:25 p.m. to a Closed <br /> Session in Conference Room B immediately following the Redevelopment <br /> Agency Meeting. <br /> The City Council adjourned its meeting to Monday, August 28, 1995, at <br /> 7:00 p.m. , in the Community Library Center, Conference Room B, 300 <br /> Estudillo Avenue, for a Work Session discussion with MIG, Inc. , <br /> Regarding a Proposed Community Survey. <br />
