ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Galvan, Loeffler, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; Mayor <br /> Corbett <br /> ABSENT: Council Member Kerr <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> None <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited <br /> to make any comments related to Agenda items (including San Leandro <br /> Redevelopment Agency, San Leandro Parking Authority, and San Leandro <br /> Industrial Development Authority) or other items of public interest at this <br /> time. Comments regarding Public Hearing items will be heard during the <br /> Public Hearing portion of the Agenda. <br /> A. Jim Johnston introduced Dan Lunsford, the City's new Emergency <br /> Preparedness Coordinator. <br /> B. Betsy Ventners, Nicki World Travel and San Leandro Color, spoke in <br /> opposition to the use of eminent domain. She said eminent domain was <br /> originally created to build streets, highways, etc. , not to move one <br /> business out and put another in. She said she does not know if her <br /> customers would follow her to another location, and she would lose her <br /> Prop 13 benefits. She said eminent domain is not fair to businesses <br /> that have been in San Leandro for years. <br /> The City Attorney said this matter is scheduled for a public hearing at <br /> the next City Council meeting. He suggested the Council hold its <br /> comments until then. <br /> C. Rick Richards, 335 Peralta Avenue, announced the Friends of the Creek <br /> potluck dinner, December 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Library to <br /> thank participants for all their work. <br /> D. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, spoke regarding Redevelopment, the <br /> 2% increase for the City Manager, the City Manager acting as the City's <br /> negotiator for real property, deferred compensation, and PERS. He said <br /> the taxpayers support PERS. He asked why the ordinance was an urgency <br /> measure. <br />
