James Begier, 929 Lee Avenue, General Manager and Treasurer of Begier
Buick, Member of Citizens Against Eminent Domain, said he had submitted
a document to the City Clerk on December 7th, but it was not on the
agenda. He requested that the City Council rescind eminent domain
authority for the Marina Node. He said the City Council has
disregarded public interest, abused eminent domain, and failed to
disclose its work with Lloyd Wise. He said there is no public support
for eminent domain and the Council has not legal authority. He said
the City should stay out of the real estate business.
E. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, said litigation involving property
is involved. He brought up 1066-1072 Marina; no answer was given at
that time. He said, regarding the PG&E JPA, PG&E is under rules and
regulations of California PUC. He discussed the regulatory powers of
the PUC. He said it is impossible to present something in five
minutes. He discussed a California Supreme Court case and said Santa
Clara was rejected by the court. He said four of the largest taxpayer
organizations in the State will come out with an initiative. He
discussed increases in earthquake insurance premiums.
F. Lavern Anderson, 1495 - 159th Avenue, thanked the Polvorosa family for
the flag and pole at Memorial Park. He thanked Council Members who
attended the Bonaire pot luck dinner. He discussed problems with a
rough street surface on Fairway Drive westbound at Merced and said the
removal of the right-turn arrow creates traffic congestion on Merced
and at the post office. He said the ice rink is too costly for some
Bonaire families.
6. CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered
for approval by the City Council with one single action.
