Council Member Perry said she had attended a County Social Services <br /> Committee, which is Keith Carson and Gail Steele, to testify on behalf <br /> of the City's plan to be included again on an advisory cities board in <br /> the job training program versus the current County configuration. She <br /> said it is very important that all cities have some involvement, <br /> especially in light of plant and base closures, and are able to advise <br /> the Board of Supervisors of the needs in their area in the job-training <br /> arena. She said this matter is tentatively scheduled to go to the <br /> Board for a vote on June 15. <br /> F. Council Member Perry noted "Teen Speak Out" would be held on Tuesday, <br /> May 25, and encouraged City Council Members to attend. <br /> G. Council Member Perry said the Library held an event celebrating the <br /> Filipino culture. She said teams from high schools and Chabot College <br /> participated, and it was an impressive program. She said it was done <br /> primarily with donations and was a wonderful event. <br /> H. Council Member Perry noted Alameda County Supervisor Gail Steele said <br /> the Yellow Ribbon Program for those held hostage by the State budget is <br /> being scheduled for June 3. She said they are looking for 100 <br /> volunteers in San Leandro to hold the ribbon. <br /> I . Council Member Faria noted the San Leandro High School Golf Team won <br /> its league under the direction of first-time Coach Elmer Costa, from <br /> the Recreation and Parks Commission. He suggested the Golf Team, as <br /> well as the Baseball Team and the Girls' Softball Team, which had also <br /> won, be honored by the City Council . <br /> 10.
