(1051) <br /> The Resolution was amended to add $20,000 for a Gang Prevention <br /> Program to the General Fund and to defer $2,500 for the Philharmonic <br /> Orchestra. <br /> Introduced by Council Member Polvorosa, who moved its adoption, <br /> seconded by Council Member Myers, and carried by the following <br /> called vote: <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 6. MATTER OF DISCUSSION REGARDING PROCESS TO FILL VACANCY - COUNCIL DISTRICT <br /> 1. <br /> Vice Mayor Polvorosa noted that the Subcommittee met on this matter and <br /> recommended a process which would allow anyone who was a registered voter <br /> and resided in District 1 for thirty days immediately preceding appointment <br /> to apply for the position. <br /> He said the Subcommittee preferred that people who planned on running for <br /> the seat in April not apply for the position but noted that the application <br /> process is open and candidates could apply if they wished. He said the <br /> applications would be available from the City Clerk's Office from 8:30 a.m. <br /> to 5:00 p.m. from June 15th through 22nd. He said the City Council would <br /> hold a special meeting on June 24th to interview applicants and recommend <br /> appointment on June 28th at the scheduled Council meeting. <br />
