Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - June 14, 1993 Page - 18 - <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS (continued) <br /> K. Council Member Perry noted she had given the Council information from <br /> the Statewide Task Force and the Committee on 55 that shows the League <br /> of California Cities' position, the Governor's budget position, and <br /> Assembly Member Vasconcellos' proposal . She said she also gave the <br /> Council a letter put together by Mike Gauch, the local government <br /> person chairing the Assembly Committee. She said the State is looking <br /> at maybe spreading the property tax over two years and extending the <br /> half-cent sales tax. She said there are two bills right now on mandate <br /> relief. She said the local government committees are looking at the <br /> Legislative Analyst's report and the concept of Reinventing Government. <br /> L. Council Member Corbett said it looks like the Committee is going to <br /> look at perhaps not taking the property tax but asked if there's any <br /> news on what the Governor is thinking about doing. <br /> Council Member Perry said Assemblyman Vasconcellos met with the <br /> Governor and there have been serious talks. She said it is rumored <br /> there will be a plan by June 20th. <br /> M. Mayor Faria asked that Council Members pass any comments or questions <br /> regarding the Redevelopment Plan on to staff so questions can be <br /> answered before the 28th. <br /> N. Mayor Faria thanked the staff for the excellent Cherry Festival and the <br /> Flag Day Ceremony. He said the Judge from Santa Clara County was <br /> excellent. <br /> 8.
