Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - July 6, 1993 Page - 16 - <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS (continued) <br /> Council Member Myers said he thought $25,000 might be more appropriate. <br /> He said this act was something the City of San Leandro and the City <br /> Council will not tolerate. <br /> Mr. Oliver said it is important to rely on the expertise of the Police <br /> Chief. He said other members of the community are also interested in <br /> participating in the reward. <br /> Chief Maginnis said it is not the amount of the reward that motivates <br /> people, it is the act itself. <br /> Minute Order No. 93-51. On motion by Council Member Nahm, seconded by <br /> Council Member Perry, and carried unanimously, the City Council agreed <br /> to place the matter of a reward related to the shooting of Officer <br /> Marcoux on the July 6, 1993, Agenda. (1123) <br /> AYES: Council Members Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Faria ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: Council Member Corbett ( 1 ) <br /> Minute Order No. 93-52. On motion by Council Member Myers, seconded by <br /> the entire City Council , and carried unanimously, the City Council <br /> authorized the offer of a $10,000 reward for the identification, <br /> apprehension, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for <br /> shooting Officer Andy Marcoux. Council Member Myers wished Glenn Hilton a speedy recovery on behalf of <br /> the entire City Council . <br /> C. Council Member Kerr reported on the activities of the City Council Dave <br /> Karp Memorial Subcommittee. He said they will be bringing a proposal <br /> to the entire Council for two memorials -- one related to the Senior <br /> Meeting Facility at the Library. He said Dave Karp was instrumental in <br /> the building of the Library and attended all of the senior functions. <br /> He said the Library-Historical Commission proposes an August 7 <br /> dedication ceremony, which would include the municipal band. He said <br /> the second memorial being proposed is naming the Aladdin/Fairway <br /> Overcrossing for Dave Karp. He said the Alameda County Transportation <br /> Authority and Cal -Trans agree with this proposal . He said the opening <br /> is expected to be on November 17 and dedication could occur at that <br /> time. He said this will be brought back to the City Council at their <br /> next regular meeting. <br />
