Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - August 16, 1993 Page - 12 - <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS (continued) <br /> Council Member Corbett invited everyone to attend her next Townhall <br /> Meeting on Thursday, August 19th, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. , at the Library. <br /> She said the City Manager, Police Chief, and Planning Department staff <br /> will be on hand to discuss North Area issues. <br /> C. Council Member Kerr commended Dave Bohne and his staff for their <br /> outstanding job putting together the dedication program. He said staff <br /> made a display of memorabilia that was outstanding. He also thanked <br /> the committee, which included Mayor Faria, Vice-Mayor Polvorosa, Kathy <br /> Ornelas, and Dennis Smith, and commended the Municipal Band for a fine <br /> job. <br /> D. Council Member Polvorosa echoed Council Member Kerr's comments <br /> regarding the dedication program, with kudos to staff. <br /> Council Member Polvorosa thanked Roy Parker, Gordon Lum, Tomi Kinsey, <br /> and Lt. Joe Kitchen for attending a meeting regarding specific problems <br /> on Wayne Avenue. He said there were concerns regarding a bus route and <br /> trucks that have been side tracked since the Williams Street <br /> overcrossing closure. He said the meeting went very well , the concerns <br /> were heard, and they came up with a solution to the community's <br /> satisfaction. <br /> E. Council Member Perry noted that the City of San Leandro/San Lorenzo <br /> Unified School District Liaison Committee met with the Board and <br /> Superintendent recently, and it was a very progressive meeting -- one <br /> of the better meetings they have had. <br /> Council Member Perry said she had seven groups in her District, and <br /> they came in second in the "National Night Out" race. <br /> Council Member Perry thanked all of the more than 20 homes that <br /> participated in the "Neighborhood Watch" this past year and said it has <br /> paid off. <br /> Council Member Perry noted that Youth Advisory Commission appointments <br /> are coming up. She said Brian Bissell , a former Youth Advisory <br /> Commissioner, is home from college and dropped in to the City Council <br /> Meeting this evening. <br /> Council Member Perry said the Dahlia Show was beautiful . <br /> Council Member Perry congratulated everyone for a very nice dedication <br /> ceremony at the Library. <br /> Council Member Perry said the Bancroft Area Neighborhood Association <br /> adopted Grand Avenue and have worked on beautifying Grant Avenue at <br /> Interstate 580. She thanked Evergreen Nursery for the donation of over <br /> 150 plants and said, hopefully, other freeway exits and on-ramps will <br /> be adopted by the community. <br />
