The City Council noted that they understood the <br /> Salem's wanted to do what was right. They also noted that this is a <br /> substandard lot and asked staff to take that into consideration when <br /> working with the Salem's. <br /> The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br /> There being no comments from the public, on motion of Council Member <br /> Nahm, seconded by Council Member Myers, and carried unanimously, the <br /> Public Hearing was closed. <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> Minute Order No. 93-81. Matter of FM-93-6; Appeal by Yassin A. Salem <br /> of the Board of Zoning Adjustments' Denial of FM-93-6; Fence <br /> Modification; to Retain an Existing 6'5" High Wall and Fence Within the <br /> 10-Foot Street-Side Yard Setback; 1659 Brookside Drive, Southeast <br /> Corner of Brookside and Donovan Drives; Assessor's Parcel Number 77A- <br /> 667-1 ; Yassin A. Salem; R-1 (Single-Family) District. <br /> On motion by Council Member Myers, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Nahm, and carried by the following called vote, the City <br /> Council denied the Appeal of FM-93-6 and directed staff and the <br /> Applicant to work together on an alternative. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Faria ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers encouraged everyone to get out and vote on <br /> Election Day. <br /> B. Council Member Corbett thanked everyone who took part in the Family <br /> Services of the East Bay Preschool Pumpkin Festival , including Council <br /> Member Perry, the business people, and individuals who donated to raise <br /> money for the cause. <br /> C. Council Member Corbett thanked the Council , the Mayor, and everyone who <br /> was present at the Youth Gang Awareness Program and commended Nancy <br /> Hillis, the Police Department, and members of the San Leandro and San <br /> Lorenzo School Districts who were there. <br /> D. Council Member Kerr thanked the Chamber of Commerce for including the <br /> San Lorenzo School District in the School Cleanup Day. <br />
