Matter of Recommendation to Appoint John Klein <br /> to the Alameda County Housing Commission, Effective January 1 , 1994. <br /> (2221) <br /> On motion by Council Member Myers, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Corbett, and carried by the following called vote, the <br /> City Council appointed John Klein to the Alameda County Housing <br /> Commission, effective January 1 , 1994. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Faria ( 6 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: Council Member Kerr ( 1 ) <br /> J. Matter of Receiving Public Input on Proposed Business License Tax <br /> Increase. The City Council will receive public input on this <br /> proposal . (1203) <br /> John Jermanis, Director of Finance, said State law requires that, any <br /> time the City changes a tax, there must be a Public Hearing; and, prior <br /> to the Public Hearing, there must be an opportunity for public input. <br /> He said the City has been operating under guidelines established in <br /> 1988 by the Business License Committee. He said the guidelines <br /> established a fee structure and recommended annual adjustments based on <br /> changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) , which, this year, increased <br /> by 3%. He described the proposed increases in the base and unit fees. <br /> The e matter was opened to the public. There were no speakers. <br /> 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> A. Matter of Appeal by Michael A. Clevenger of the Planning Commission's <br /> Denial of A-93-3 and PD-93-4; A-93-3; Reclassification; to Re-Zone from <br /> R-1 (Single Family) District to R-1 -PDC (Single Family - Planned <br /> Development Combining) District; and PD-93-4, GDP; Planned Unit <br /> Development, General Development Plan; to Construct 22-Unit Townhouse <br /> Condominiums; 14969 Washington Avenue; Assessor's Parcel Numbers 77B- <br /> 1120-1-1 and 5; Michael A. Clevenger; R-1 (Single Family) District. <br /> - Request from Applicant to reschedule the Public Hearing to February <br /> 7, 1994. <br /> This being the time and place for the Public Hearing on the above <br /> matter, staff noted the Applicant had requested that this matter be <br /> continued to the February 7, 1994, City Council Meeting. <br />
