Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - December 20, 1993 Page - 2 - PRESENTATIONS (continued) B. Resolution of Commendation (John F. Klein) . The City Clerk read the Resolution of Commendation to John F. Klein, which described his many years of work in coordinating Federal and State programs to improve housing quality, strengthen services to low- income households, and revitalize neighborhood commercial areas. The commendation praised Mr. Klein for his tireless work with non-profit sponsors to obtain financing for senior and special -need housing, his oversight of City programs promoting repair and maintenance of lower- income, owner-occupied and rental housing, and his supervision of counseling assistance to tenants and landlords. Mr. Klein said housing is the substance that keeps all of us in one place and is very important to all of us. He said it has been an honor to work for the City in this manner. He said he met many fine people through his work. He said the City has given him a lot and has served the citizens well . He thanked the City Council for all the good years and said he would be happy to assist in any way possible in the future. Council Member Kerr thanked Mr. Klein for the many problems he has resolved and programs he has helped the City take advantage of. Council Member Perry said projects Mr. Klein worked on, such as Fuller Lodge, would not have been accomplished without him and are a monument to what he has done for the City. The following Resolution was then introduced: Resolution No. 93-251, Resolution of Commendation (John F. Klein) . (1081) Introduced by Council Member Myers, who moved its adoption, seconded by Council Member Corbett, and carried by the following called vote: AYES: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa; Mayor Faria ( 7 ) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: None ( 0 ) C. Presentation of Commendation to Steven G. Bayley for Outstanding Performance on Measure B Street Improvement Projects. The City Clerk read the Commendation which thanked Mr. Bayley for his exemplary work in managing the City's Measure B projects and making San Leandro a model for other agencies.
