Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - March 7, 1994 Page - 7 -
NEW BUSINESS (continued)
D. Minute Order No. 94-17. Motion Regarding 1994-95 Budget Strategies.
(1051)
On motion by Council Member Nahm, who moved its approval , seconded by
Council Member Myers, and carried by the following called vote, the
City Council directed staff to proceed with the Budget Strategies, as
presented in the staff report, dated March 3, 1994.
AYES: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa;
Mayor Faria ( 7 )
NOES: None ( 0 )
ABSENT: None ( 0 )
8. PUBLIC HEARINGS
None
9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS
A. Mayor Faria directed the City Clerk to read a draft of a letter in
response to a question asked at the Chamber of Commerce Candidates'
Luncheon. The City Clerk read the letter.
The City Council discussed the letter and suggested that, if there are
misperceptions regarding the manner in which the City is operated,
etc. , these should be discussed personally with the members of the
Chamber Board to find out what is causing these perceptions and whose
they are.
The City Council pointed out that, although it might be a valid point
that the public had some concerns, this should have been pointed out by
the Chamber of Commerce two or three years ago.
Mayor Faria advised the City Council that he planned on sending a
letter that would include in it a phrase indicating members of the City
Council would like to sit down and meet with the Chamber of Commerce to
discuss this matter.
B. Council Member Myers asked that staff look into the condition of the
railroad crossing at Farallon and Griffith, which he said is
deteriorating.
C. Council Member Corbett asked for on-going updates regarding the San
Leandro plume and the hook-ups to EBMUD for those properties now using
wells.
