(2773) <br /> Introduced by Council Member Myers, who moved its adoption, seconded by <br /> Council Member Galvan, and carried by the following called vote: <br /> AYES: Council Members Galvan, Kerr, Loeffler, Myers, Perry, <br /> Polvorosa; Mayor Corbett ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers requested the Meeting be closed in memory of John <br /> Lothrop. <br /> B. Council Member Loeffler asked if a letter would be prepared in <br /> opposition to SB 1653. Staff said it would. <br /> C. Council Member Kerr said he had attended the Future Tots ceremony for <br /> Preschoolers graduating into Kindergarten. There were 25 graduates, <br /> and it was a wonderful experience with an overflow crowd. He said the <br /> Future Tots Center is extremely successful . <br /> D. Council Member Kerr requested that next year staff look at more ways to <br /> make cuts to the budget rather than increase spending. <br /> E. Council Member Kerr said he would be holding a Town Hall Meeting on <br /> June 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington Manor School Auditorium <br /> focusing on crime and disaster preparedness. <br /> F. Council Member Polvorosa said he had attended the graduation ceremonies <br /> at San Leandro High School . He said he was impressed by the fact the <br /> students had achieved more than $400,000 in scholarships and <br /> congratulated the students and their teachers. <br /> G. Council Member Perry said she attended graduation ceremonies at San <br /> Leandro High School , Muir, and Bancroft. She said the future of this <br /> community is in good hands in our youth. She said she was very <br /> impressed with the speaking ability of the students and with their <br /> scholarship achievements. <br /> H. Council Member Perry also spoke in honor of John Lothrop. She said she <br /> will always remember him as a member of the Historical Society, <br /> teaching her to barbecue steaks at Day at the Casa. She said Mrs. <br /> Lothrop had asked her to note that there would be a reception tomorrow <br /> at 11 :00 a.m. at the Casa Peralta in Mr. Lothrop's honor. <br />
