Council Member Kerr spoke regarding a presentation he had heard from <br /> the City Manager of the City of Malibu regarding fires and mud slides <br /> which had occurred in that area. <br /> G. Council Member Kerr said the Mayor of Filmore had talked about the <br /> earthquake, their experience in mobilizing people to assist with the <br /> disaster, and working with the Office of Emergency Services and FEMA. <br /> He noted that he and Council Members Myers and Loeffler are on the <br /> Disaster Preparedness Committee, and the Committee is making great <br /> headway toward preparing the community for a disaster. <br /> H. Council Member Loeffler said he was impressed by the South Branch <br /> Library block party and heard many complimentary comments from the <br /> community about the Library system. <br /> I . Council Member Loeffler thanked Artie Fields for his tours of City <br /> facilities. He noted that a group of Neighborhood Watch neighbors have <br /> now moved into the concept of becoming a Neighborhood Prepared for <br /> Disaster Committee. <br /> J. Council Member Loeffler said he was concerned with the traffic hazards <br /> that may occur as a result of the relocation of Kragen's and said the <br /> Traffic Section should take a look at this matter. <br /> K. Council Member Loeffler noted that the railroad barriers on Marina <br /> Boulevard had blocked the street crossing for over two hours and said <br /> it was a waste of police officer time to direct traffic in this manner. <br /> He said Southern Pacific Railroad should be pushed to correct this type <br /> of incident. <br /> L. Council Member Myers spoke regarding the Marina Faire Annual Picnic and <br /> said George and the San Leandro Municipal Band had done their usual <br /> excellent job and it was an excellent picnic. <br /> M. Mayor Corbett also thanked the Marina Faire Homeowners Association for <br /> their hospitality and thanked the Band for making it a good day. <br /> N. Mayor Corbett said people were very excited to know they can now go to <br /> the South Branch Library on Saturdays. <br /> 0. Mayor Corbett said she had attended a luncheon sponsored by the U. S. <br /> Conference of Mayors and heard an update on the Crime Bill and said it <br /> is moving forward and funds should be available to supplement City <br /> programs. <br />
