Resolution of the City Council of the City of San Leandro Authorizing, <br /> Pursuant to Revenue and Taxation Code Section 5108, a Rebate of All of <br /> the Property Tax Revenue That the City Would Receive from Westcoast <br /> Video Duplicating, Inc. , for Economic Revitalization Manufacturing <br /> Property for a Period of Five (5) Fiscal Years (authorizes a five-year <br /> rebate of the City's share of personal property tax from Westcoast <br /> Video Duplicating, Inc. , as incentive for locating 600 jobs in San <br /> Leandro) . <br /> The City Manager said this is the first time the City of San Leandro <br /> has had an opportunity to participate in a new State program that <br /> allows cities to forswear their share of personal property tax. He <br /> said this is a very exciting program. <br /> Susan McCue, Economic Development Coordinator, said this is an <br /> opportunity to invest in the City's economic future. She said personal <br /> property tax is for things like computers, VCR's, etc. She said this <br /> resolution represents an attempt to compete with other cities that have <br /> greater incentives. She said Westcoast Video Duplicating, Inc. , would <br /> bring 600 jobs, making them the fourth largest employer in the City and <br /> invest $3 million in the property on Doolittle Drive, totalling 270,000 <br /> square feet, which would be taken off the market. <br />
