NEW BUSINESS
Item Removed from the Consent Calendar.
6.C. Resolution Approving Contractual Services Agreement with The Sear-Brown
Group Relating to Water Pollution Control Plant Seismic Retrofit, Project
No. 593-8541 (provides for design services for seismic retrofit of various
facilities at the Water Pollution Control Plant and sewage and stormwater
pumping stations) .
Council Member Kerr asked for an explanation of this matter. Bill Silva,
City Engineer, said the resolution approves a contract for design of a
seismic retrofit project at the Water Pollution Control Plant. He said it
does not include upgrading or reconstruction. He said there are a number
of phases to the retrofit at the Plant and this first phase is a detailed
analysis of the seismic retrofit needs. He said Phases II, III, and IV
will include construction.
Council Member Kerr noted two weeks ago the City Council approved $300,000
for the Water Pollution Control Plant and questioned the need to keep
putting money into the Plant.
The City Manager said the issue of the long-term future of the Water
Pollution Control Plant and the City's sanitary sewer collection system
would be discussed at an upcoming series of Work Sessions.
