Council Member Kerr said this was the 35th consecutive "Day In the <br /> Park. " He thanked the Mayor and City Council for attending. He <br /> thanked Dan Arellano, who chaired the program, and the Municipal Band <br /> for a fantastic job. He also commended the Police Dog Show, the <br /> Chinese Bible School Dance Group, and the Police Department booth <br /> staffed by Joe Kitchen. <br /> H. Council Member Galvan noted recycling is a complicated issue. <br /> I . Council Member Galvan encouraged everyone to read the items on the <br /> ballot, including Proposition 187. He said people need to understand <br /> how these types of things are going to be funded. He said Measure D <br /> did not cover all of the costs to conduct recycling programs. He said <br /> in the past Councils have tried to find alternatives to keep costs down <br /> and find cost-effective programs such as this one. He said he agreed <br /> with programs such as the Clean Water and Clean Air Act, but we must <br /> find ways to pay for them. <br /> J. Council Member Galvan said he is also open to taking a position on <br /> Proposition 187. <br /> K. Council Member Galvan commended the Washington Manor Homeowners <br /> Association for the "Day In the Park. " <br /> L. Mayor Corbett thanked Council Member Kerr and Dan Arellano for the fine <br /> "Day In the Park. " Mayor Corbett said she attended the Lady of <br /> Penafrancia Dinner. She said 400 people from all over the country <br /> attended and it was a wonderful event. <br /> 10.
