Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - October 17, 1994 Page - 2 - 8:00 P.M. REGULAR MEETING -- City Council Chambers 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG 3. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Council Members Galvan, Kerr, Loeffler, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; Mayor Corbett ABSENT: None 4. PRESENTATIONS A. Proclamation Honoring World War II Veterans' Memorial Week and Designating the Week of November 6-12, 1994, as "World War II Veterans' Commemorative Week. " Mayor Corbett presented the Proclamation to Frank Sanchez, Veterans' of Foreign Wars, Post 819. B. Mayor Corbett asked if the City Council had any interest in reviewing Measure D or receiving information on how it could be placed on the Agenda. The City Council said they did not wish to pursue this matter. 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited to make any comments related to Agenda items (including San Leandro Redevelopment Agency, San Leandro Parking Authority, and San Leandro Industrial Development Authority) or other items of public interest at this time. Comments regarding Public Hearing items will be heard during the Public Hearing portion of the Agenda. A. Mark Johnson, 454 Nabor Street, spoke in support of Measure D. He described the benefits to the community that will be derived from improvements to the schools and asked the City Council to endorse the Measure. B. Karen Short, 13828 Wake Avenue, spoke in favor of Measure D. She said the goals of Measure D are in alignment with the City Council Members' goals. She said improving the schools is an integral part of the City. She described some of the improvements that need to be made and discussed playground equipment which must be replaced by the year 2000. She said the Measure is congruent with the goals for the City of San Leandro and cannot be separated.
