Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - November 21, 1994 Page - 7 - <br /> NEW BUSINESS (continued) <br /> Council Member Kerr said he believes the City got into recycling at the <br /> right time because the cost for recyclables is rising. <br /> D. Approval of Work Session Items Requiring Action. <br /> None <br /> E. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br /> The City Attorney reported no final action was taken on any of the four <br /> Closed Session items. <br /> 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> None <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Kerr suggested staff contact the District Attorney's <br /> Office to make sure they are prosecuting cases we send to them to the <br /> full extent of the law. <br /> B. Council Member Kerr suggested staff follow up on Mr. Justino's <br /> suggestion that the City look into how the Bal Theater could be useful <br /> to the City. <br /> C. Council Member Kerr noted the Greenhouse Market Place Businessmen's <br /> Association was getting very active after four years of no meetings. <br /> D. Council Member Myers responded to Council Member Kerr's suggestion <br /> regarding the Bal Theater and stated that Planning Commission member <br /> Bob Berger has been working with City staff on the Bal Theater project. <br /> E. Council Member Polvorosa stated that he attended the Japanese-American <br /> Citizens League Annual Installation a week ago. The Guest Speaker was <br /> the first, American-born, Japanese Judge in Alameda County. He stated <br /> the youth in that organization are very active at the Japanese <br /> Community Center. <br /> F. Council Member Perry noted, as we go into Thanksgiving, let's not <br /> forget about those who do not have family or friends or who may not be <br /> as fortunate as us. She encouraged the community to continue to <br /> support organizations that assist people in need. <br /> G. Mayor Corbett stated that she and Vice Mayor Myers attended a Veterans' <br /> Ball on Sunday evening that was very successful . She also said that <br /> she attended a beautiful Veterans' Day Parade in Hayward. <br />
