MINUTE ORDER NO. 92-1 (1171/1028) <br /> MATTER OF APPROVING DESIGN CONCEPT FOR THE <br /> ROOT PARK URBAN CREEK RENOVATION PROJECT <br /> On motion by Council Member Polvorosa, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Faria, and carried by the following called vote, the City Council <br /> approved the design concept for the Root Park Urban Creek Renovation Project. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 7. NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. Resolution Initially Accepting the Work for South Dike Restroom <br /> Repairs, Project No. 90-6603. <br /> Council Member Santos asked for an explanation regarding the Change <br /> Order on this project. He asked why the damage to the walls of the <br /> structure had not been picked up in the original inspection. <br /> Bill Silva, City Engineer, said the original inspection only opened up <br /> a small portion of the building. He said once the work was under way <br /> it was found there was significant damage due to dry rot. He said some <br /> of the beams had to be beefed-up with galvanized steel plating. He <br /> said this type of damage can only be uncovered once work has begun. <br />
