Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - February 3, 1992 Page - 13 - <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS (continued) <br /> C. Council Member Corbett thanked everyone for the many cards and phone <br /> calls she has received congratulating she and her husband, Mark Boehme, <br /> on the birth of their son, Ryan. <br /> D. Council Member Faria noted he had recently attended an East Bay <br /> Dischargers Authority meeting on the Mayor's behalf. He said there are <br /> major problems and suggested the whole organization get together <br /> because one agency was suing the other four agencies involved in the <br /> East Bay Dischargers Authority. He said the whole City Council should <br /> attend the proposed Joint Work Session. <br /> E. Council Member Santos expressed his gratitude to the three members of <br /> the School District Liaison Committee for their suggestion to form a <br /> Youth Advisory Commission. The Commission has met several times and <br /> the members are working in a very professional manner and will have <br /> some very good suggestions. <br /> F. Council Member Santos said there is a problem with back yards being <br /> used as wrecking yards in the West Avenue 133rd area. He said he would <br /> provide addresses and request that staff look into this matter. <br /> G. Mayor Karp noted he had recently gone to Washington, D.C. , to attend <br /> the U. S. Conference of Mayors. He said he hosted the dinner for 500 <br /> conferees to thank them for putting the Surface Transportation Act <br /> together. He said the dinner was paid for by Business Week. <br /> The Mayor said he also spent time with President Bush and Vice <br /> President Quayle and had met with all of the Democratic candidates. He <br /> said the three-day meeting was extremely beneficial . He noted the <br /> City' s dredge spoils will be included in the Federal budget and said he <br /> had also talked to the President on a number of matters, such as Cable <br /> TV regulation and tax credits. <br /> 10. ADJOURN <br /> The City Council adjourned at 9:45 p.m. to a Work Session in the South <br /> Offices Conference Room Regarding. <br /> WORK SESSION <br /> A. Status of 1992-93 and 1993-94 Proposed Capital Improvement Program. <br /> B.
