Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - March 2, 1992 Page - 15 - <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 92-19 <br /> MATTER OF DURANT AVENUE AND <br /> FOOTHILL BOULEVARD NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT <br /> On motion by Council Member Corbett, who moved its approval , seconded by Council <br /> Member Glaze, and carried by the following called vote, the City Council <br /> authorized staff to proceed, as outlined in the report to City Council at the <br /> Public Hearing. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Mayor Karp said he had been invited to address the Associated General <br /> Contractors regarding the ISTEA (Intermodal Surface Transportation <br /> Efficiency Act) . He said the road work funded will create numerous <br /> jobs. He said the $16 million widening of I-880 at Alvarado-Niles is <br /> scheduled to begin in April , in conjunction with a $9.6 million project <br /> resulting from a bill he had presented in connection with Measure B. <br /> Council Member Santos thanked the Mayor for his work on that bill . He <br /> said he works for the fourth largest insurance brokerage company in the <br /> world, and they write most of the insurance policies for bridge <br /> Y P 9 <br /> builders, so this bill will ensure job security for his company. <br /> B. Council Member Glaze asked if the City would be participating in the <br /> Business Fair this year. Mark Adcock, Assistant to the City Manager, <br /> said the City would participate, but the program would be scaled back. <br /> He said the original estimate was $2,300 for ten tables, including <br /> staff time. He said staff is recommending the program be scaled back <br /> to three tables at a cost of $600-$800. <br /> Council Member Glaze said we should see if this is a program the City <br /> can afford to participate in. <br /> C. Council Member Perry said she had attended a meeting comprised of the <br /> old ACTEB and new PIC. She said they are trying to work together to <br /> find common ground for the cities to participate in the new PIC. She <br /> said nothing was resolved at the meeting. She said the city <br /> representatives will meet and then get back to Alameda County to try to <br /> work this matter out. <br />
